Overview
Hacker News Digest is an automated workflow that turns the top Hacker News stories into a clean, easy-to-read daily email. It fetches trending articles, reads the linked content, analyzes discussions, and generates concise summaries so you can quickly understand what’s happening in the tech world.
Who This Is For
- Busy developers and tech professionals: Stay updated on key tech trends without spending time browsing Hacker News every day.
- Team leads and project managers: Share a daily or weekly digest with your team to spark discussions and align on industry developments.
- Tech enthusiasts and lifelong learners: Keep track of emerging ideas, tools, and debates in the tech community with minimal effort.
- Content creators and bloggers: Discover high-quality sources and discussion points for articles, newsletters, or social posts.
How It Works
- Fetch top Hacker News stories
- The workflow retrieves the current top five trending stories from the official Hacker News API.
- Retrieve details and filter valid links
- For each story, it fetches metadata and checks whether the post contains a valid external article URL, skipping non-web content.
- Extract and clean article content
- The workflow scrapes the linked webpage and converts the HTML into clean, readable plain text.
- Generate intelligent summaries
- An LLM analyzes both the article content and the Hacker News context to produce concise, high-quality summaries.
- Compile and deliver the daily digest
- All summaries are formatted into a structured Hacker News Digest and automatically sent to your inbox via email.
